Rob Papen and VST2

Some customers would like to remove the VST2 program/code from their computer to save HD space. Well, below are the points why this is not possible, and unnecessary with our plugins.
  • We use the VST2 code to create VST3 and, on Mac, also the AU and AAX plugins.
  • Removing the VST2 code is unwise, as it would render our plugins non-functional.
Moreover, it doesn’t save any HD space, as this portion of code is by far the largest!
  • Prisma, our free plugin, uses the VST2 code, which is also used by our instruments.
As a result, it will stop working if you delete this code/program part.
  • On PC, the VST2 code is placed inside the VST3 folder.
This means that VST3, and Prisma will find its code, and this also applies when you load previous songs created using the VST2 version of our software.
During installation of our software, you can select VST3, and if needed, AAX (Pro Tools) and NKS (For NI Komplete Kontrol and Machine users).
Selecting VST2 during install is not needed, since this code is also inside the VST3 folder.
  • On Mac, the VST2 code is contained within its own folder, and its code part will be used to create AU, AAX, which is needed for our Prisma plugin.
Note: Running Cubase in Native Mode on an ARM-based computer will automatically replace the VST2 version with its VST3 plugin version while loading a song.

Mac things…
Well, as a joke, I often mention that Mac changes their OS every nanosecond!
We, as developers, have our hands full with Mac and strive to keep everything as compatible and optimized as possible. For now, we are compatible with OS 10.15 up to the current version.
Mac computers currently come in two forms: Intel-based and ARM processor-based.
We are compatible with both, but sometimes bugs appear, as you noticed with the last Prisma release.
Anhow, these points below I would like you to remember, because it saves us some support time.
  • Always close your music program before running an installer.
On Mac, it is easy to forget this, and we point this out during install… but still very often overlooked, and then the plugins will (obviously) not work the correct way.
  • Always reboot if you install the eXplorer bundle.
With a new upgrade version, for example going from eXplorer-9 to eXplorer-10, the registration needs to be updated. If you do not reboot, your computer keeps things in memory that it should not keep in memory.
  • Always reboot if you use Pro Tools and install our software.
To ensure Pro Tools works correctly with our plugins, ALWAYS reboot your computer after running our installers. (This is even the case on PC with Pro Tools)
