Evolution Engine 1.3.5 update by Orange Tree Samples is available

One of the most notable improvements is the new dynamic fretting mode. This option allows the fretting position to move as needed to provide more realistic string/fret choices.

We also added several much-needed improvements to the strumming pattern editor, including a dedicated button to quickly change the direction of strums. The dynamic of performance FX can be adjusted now, just like with strums.

Here’s a complete list of the changes:

  • Breaking change: Setting locking options will reset to their defaults, but now use a better, more future-proof approach.
  • Improved: Dedicated strum direction button added to strumming pattern editor.
  • Improved: Performance FX in strumming patterns now allow dynamic adjustment, just like strums.
  • New setting: “Fretting Mode”
  • New setting: “Position Change Delay”
  • New setting: “Starting Channel”
  • Improved: “Auto Fret Noise Volume” renamed to “Position Change Noise Volume”
  • Improved: Channel-based strings setting now has “Custom” option for specifying your own MIDI channel string assignments.
  • Improved: Channel-based strings modes now limit notes to their playable ranges instead of reverting to other strings, making its behavior more obvious.
  • Improved: Manual string selection keyswitches now override channel-based string modes.
  • Improved: Fixed sluggish reverb pedal updating.
  • Improved: Automatic keyswitch allocation more reliably prevents unintentional overlaps.
  • Improved: While still monophonic, vibrato assigned to aftertouch now responds to polyphonic aftertouch and not just channel pressure.
  • Improved: Fixed certain Evolution Clawhammer Banjo patterns which were playing at half speed.
  • Improved: Tuning improved for Evolution Classic Rick Bass’s fingered palm muted articulation.

How to update your libraries:

To update your Evolution libraries from any version from 1.2.0 onward, simply download the following ZIP file and replace your resource files (the „.nkr“ and „.nkc“ files in each instrument’s „Samples“ subfolder) with the new ones:

Download Evolution Engine 1.3.5 Update (231 MB, ZIP)

Updating from an older version:

If you need to update from a version older than 1.2.0, here’s an update bundle that has all the new files you’ll need for the instruments.

Although you can always re-download the entire libraries to get this latest version, installing the update using the update bundle is faster and involves far less downloading, especially if you own many Evolution instruments.

Download Evolution Engine 1.3.5 Cumulative Update Bundle (324 MB, ZIP)

A detailed guide with step-by-step instructions on how to install the update is included inside the ZIP file.
