Canadian tonehounds Revv Amplification have freshly debuted their G25, a compact 2 channel tube head with a bevy of modern
advancements to back up its razor-sharp boutique high gain tones. As part of a lineup refresh including the new D20 MK2 head, the G25 is an update to Revv’s reactive load & impulse response equipped G20, but with a name that hints at its design mantra. “We still rate the G25 at 20 watts, but it’s been tweaked for a lot more headroom internally to make sure the sound stays together even at higher volumes” says designer Dan Trudeau. “We essentially redesigned the amp from the ground up to give the best, punchiest representation of our Purple Channel possible in this form factor.” With added workflow features like independent volume controls for its 2 channels & Revv’s critically acclaimed precision noisegate, the G25 is a promising option for guitarists who need a ‘do-it-all’ amp combining real tube tone & simplicity with the portability & flexibility of modelers.
“An updated G20 is probably what I get asked about the most. We named it the G25
because the extra headroom really made it feel different, & bringing in all the tech we’ve
worked on for the last 6 years like the noise gate feels like a full circle moment for us.
I’m proud that our smallest high gain head sounds this good.”
– Derek Eastveld, Vice President Revv Amplification Inc.

Revv Amplification is a staple of the modern guitar amplifier & pedal ecosystem, having spearheaded the reactive load equipped & impulse response loading tube amp revolution & developing an impressive array of signature gear with powerhouse artists like Joey Landreth. With their highly rated Dynamis D40 amplifier used by players like Dann Huff & lauded by Tim Pierce as “the new Dumble,” you’d be forgiven for assuming Revv has pivoted to a focus exclusively on classic crunch tones. However, members of modern heavyweight bands like Comeback Kid & A Day To Remember still rely on the firebreathing Generator high gain tones that put Revv on the map over 10 years ago – leading to fresh updates like the 50 watt EL34 equipped ‘hotrod’ G50 model & a heavily revised version of their G20 lunchbox in the all new G25 head.
